What do you think of the ANTM makeovers? The makeover segment is always one of my favourite episodes per season and this one did not disappoint with Brooke, Jade, Dajana and Abbie winning my favourites award. I found it disappointing to see poor Shanali go through so much pain with the hair threading procedure to come out looking like the same gorgeous girl she is.
In all honesty I thought the Calvin Klein inspired shoot was the most disappointing photo shoot of the series - the white night dresses on a white background was such a bad idea ... even Miranda Kerr would have struggled to get a killer shot! Unfortunately the judges seemed to have thought the same and chose to say goodbye to not one but two supermodel wannabe's, Brooke and April.
This week we had a quick chat with Troy Thompson, TreSEMME's Hair Director for Australia's Next Top Model who helped to choose and create the dramatic hair makeovers ...
Troy, which makeover was your favourite? I loved doing Duckie's hair, she was such a sport and she understood that we need to show what she was able to look like with a completely different colour.
Who do you think experienced the most dramatic makeover? Hands down it was Brooke, from blonde to dark, she looked amazing and I must say her hair looked the better for it. She seemed to have a much better skin tone.
Which model found the makeover most challenging? I think it was Shanali, and not for the hair make over but the threading we did on her skin. She was in tears! She had amazing hair on her head but just a little to much around the face, so I'm totally thinking it was Shanali as she was the only one that went through the crying process.
Poor Shanali! If you could have fixed just one girl pre-makeover, who would you choose? I think it would have been Abbie. She looked like she hadn't been to the salon for a decent cut in a long time. I always think that if you;re trying to become a model then at least try to look like one from head to toe.She is an amazing looking girl but I think the hair let her down in a professional sense.
What is your best tip for changing up your hair in a jiffy? If you're thinking of a style change for the night all good and well, but if you are seriously thinking a change of colour or hair cut then it shouldn't be taken lightly. Always take reference pictures to that salon - not just for the haircut but for the colour as well. Once it's done, it's done!
