MBFWA: Alex Perry Spring/Summer 13-14

Alex Perry stunned and charmed his audience on Monday with the debut of Alex Perry S/S 13-14 at MBFWA. While his timeless designs stayed true to the label's aesthetic, gone were the gown, sequins and corsets we have come to know Alex Perry for, replaced for shorter, cocktail style dresses and neoprene fabrics. Sheer panels and lace fabrics are big on the runway and these trends carried on through Alex Perry's collection. Having changed the brand's direction, the label is set to be more accessible to a large market of buyers and fans. Alex Perry said of the change, "The nature of the evening-wear market has changed drastically. Women want different things and expect clothes that work over multiple occasions."

Hair: directed by Sophie Roberts for ghd described the look, "The hair concept is minimal - we were inspired by the clean, simple and carefree look of how a model would tie her own hair up for a casting or a fitting. Without aspiring to, this look exudes stylish elegance in a modern, chic way. It is very much atoned to the Alex Perry collection."

Makeup: by Napoleon Perdis. "A great contour is one of my beauty signatures so, naturally, I am mad for this look. So sport luxe! Alex really wanted a completely modern and fresh look to showcase his new direction so we focused on really bringing out the luminosity of the skin and eyes with highlights but contrasting it with matte contours. So polished, so chic."
