MBFWA: Camilla S/S 12/13

Day One: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia - Camilla S/S 12/13
Collection: Gypset.

Day One of Fashion Week was filled back to back with a frenzy of shows, models and fashion buyers so it was the perfect platform for kaftan queen Camilla to showcase her new Spring/Summer collection, Gypset, the jet-setting gypsy. We were taken on a journey visiting 7 different countries without the need for a passport. Here Camilla's collection takes inspiration from Australia, Peru, Africa, Brazil, Asia, India and Navajo Indians in America.  The mood for the show was beautifully raw yet not rough or overly intense. Whimsical and free, beautifully boho. The collection lit up the catwalk with bright colours, unique headpieces and pieces that can be transformed from day wear to evening wear in a flash. The show’s finale was highlighted with a tribe of young children following Camilla down the catwalk to showcase the kids range; everyone was left feeling invigorated and energised.

Hair: by ghd, fronted by Sharon Blain.
Hair was adorned with trinkets, head scarves, jewellery and odd accessories. Inspiration for these pieces were taken from a range of cultures and continents around the world.

Nails: by OPI.
Like each of the countries that inspired the collection, the nails and toes were carefully designed to match the style of each country explored:
- The Australian collection had the models wearing OPI’s On the Same Paige on hands with a few key nails in Barefoot in Barcelona. The toes complemented the look in Barefoot in Barcelona.
- On the African savannah all 4 nails were painted in OPI’s Black Onyx whilst the index finger was painted in Glitzerland. The toes were adorned in this pale silver gold shade, Glitzerland
- The Brazilian inspired range had the models in a sea of colour with each finger painted in a different colour; from thumb to pinkie - My Chihuahua Bites, Black Onyx, Need Sunglasses, Blue My Mind, Fly.  Toes were painted in OPI’s Black Onyx.
- The Asia inspired range featured OPI’s Do You Lilac It? on the majority of the nails with only one nail featuring a musk pink, OPI Kiss Me on My Tulips.  On the toes Kiss Me on My Tulips.
- In Peru the nails featured OPI’s Friday Night, highlighted with one nail in a bright yellow, Need Sunglasses. The toes were rocking Friday Night.
- In India the nail took a traditional tone featuring OPI’s traditional red, Big Apple Red with one nail is Glitzerland.  Toes were in the vibrant Big Apple Red.
 - The final destination was in the Navajo where all fingers and toes were in OPI’s Give Me the Moon a soft silvery pastel blue grey.

Makeup: by Napoleon Perdis.
When asked about the look and how it evolved, Napoleon Perdis told media, “this is a refined Gypsy look; it’s textured and unpolished. For me, the appeal lies in the raw, earthy smoky eye and the just-bitten lip stain. The eyes are the stand-out, achieved by smudging my Eye Pencil in
Brown Sugar along the lash line and into the socket. I really love the touch of the diamante in the corner of the eye, paired with my glitter Loose Eye Dusts on the lower lash line. In fact, it really reflects the essence of my collaboration with Camilla – we both love colour!”
...and it is safe to say that the team at Spoilt also love colour... and sparkle! The beautiful diamante looks stunning in the corner of the model's eye and complete the gypsy look by giving it a modern finish.

Would you wear Camilla's new collection? Loving or loathing the makeup?
