Review: I have been super keen to try Studio Secrets Professional High Definition Smoothing Foundation for months because I love L'Oreal and trust the quality of the brand and its products. The reason I have not given it five stars is for two real reasons:
1. The colours are not as natural as I would had expected. I used '021 Rosy Ivory' which is a shade for fair skin containing a pink tint that looks unnatural when comparing the colour to my neck and chest. Because I have a lot of pink in my skin and personally avoid using pink-toned foundations on myself and in my makeup kit, I decided to try the product in '023 Gold Ivory' which is another shade for fair skin but yellow-toned. Disappointingly though ''023 Gold Ivory' is extremely yellow and makes my pale skin look artificial and overdone so I am not entirely impressed with the choice of shades.
2. The foundation brush on the end is too short and stiff for daily application - when using a foundation brush I prefer one which has soft bristles and is a little longer because it spreads and blends the product easier. With that said, I prefer applying this with fingertips that the brush provided.
The click-pen is a hygienicway to keep the product from going off and leaking everywhere but when you use this product for the first time, be sure to spare 5 minutes clicking the pen to release the product because it takes about 50+ clicks before the product comes out but this is a one-off. Every other time I use it, the product comes out in 2-3 clicks. The foundation lasts on the skin for hours and gives a natural, slightly dewy finish which can be mattified with a matte primer or face powder, however I can't say it looks natural because the shades are not natural colours. I do love the Studio Secrets Professional range and hope that in time High Definition Smoothing Foundation will be re-formulated because this product has serious potential.
