Beautettes, I am really excited to see October roll around again. Not because Christmas is getting closer but because the month of October goes pink for for the breast cancer awareness known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month or Pink Ribbon.
Did you know that breast cancer affects 1 in 9 Australian women? In a number of countries, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is promoted to educate women of all ages prevent, detect and treat breast cancer. It is also a month where associations such as Australia's National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) ask us all to chip in an donate funds in hope of scientific search to find a cure. Since it began in 1994 NBCF has allocated more than $74 million to 274 breast cancer research projects across Australia. If that does not impress you then I don't know what will!
Created by the late Jane McGrath and her husband Glenn, the McGrath Foundation is considered to be one of Australia’s leading breast cancer support organisations, with over 10,000 Australian families supported nationally in the last three years. 2012 will see the launch of an education strategy to ensure a more informed population of young Australian women experiencing the best health they can through a better understanding of their bodies and breast health.
Showing your support for breast cancer during the month of October has become a fashion statement. Each year fashion designers, beauty brands, home and lifestyle brands collaborate with Pink Ribbon and breast cancer associations to promote the month of Pink Ribbon. Over previous years designers have collaborated with department store Target and Jeanswest as well as through the Pink Ribbon online store and the McGrath Foundation online store. Last year I covered some of the wonderful beauty treats that were participating in the cause. You can view the 2010 products and past products here.
To show my love of all things pink, I have sourced and compiled a list of my favourite 2011 Pink Ribbon beauty and fashion products:
