Lancome Backstage New York Fashion Week

Lancome have been super busy backstage at New York Fashion Week. Directing the makeup  for three popular fashion designers is not an easy feat but for designers L'Wren Scott, Chris Benz, and Victoria Beckham, Lancome was the right fit for their brand.

Victoria Beckham Spring 2012
On Sunday September 11 Victoria Beckham's show started with a moment's silence to remember September 11 victims. The collection showcased sexy hourglass dresses along with short flattering shifts that oozed femininity. Some models even wore flat sandals - surely this is a first for Mrs. Beckham!

Lancome Makeup Artist Charlotte Tilbury wanted the models at Victoria Beckham’s Spring 2012 show to look “handsome” and “sporty”. Fresh, glowing skin was created with shading and highlighting to contour the face.

Chris Benz Spring 2012
On September 12, Chris Benz and his Spring 2012 collection took New York by storm. Was the collection modest? No. Were the prints conservative? Afraid not. The makeup muse for Chris Benz's Spring 2012 collection was Candy Darling, a 1960's nightclub fixture who was part of Andy Warhol’s clique. He said, "Everybody was going crazy this summer with the heat wave. We were all in the studio, and I just decided to go with it. It's Andy Warhol's superstars go to Coney Island, with a nod to candy kids."

With Candy and Chris’ bright colors as inspiration, Lancome's lead Makeup Artist Daniel Martin wanted to create fresh, clean skin with a pop of color on the eyes and lips.

L'Wren Scott Spring 2012
I love this look the most. As per usual L'Wren Scott oozes tres chic style and sophistication for the designer's Spring 2012 collection. Sequins and jewels were a must - but don't go thinking the collection was prim and proper - it was rather relaxed and savvy rolled in to one.

Named Beau Monde, every piece bared influence from by gone days so the makeup had to do the same. Aaron De May, Lancôme’s Artistic Director for Makeup, wanted to create a “super bronzed” complexion with chocolate eyes and soft bronze lips. The hair off the model's face has really given emphasis to the model's flawless and bronzed skin.

GET THE LOOK:
Skin: Teint Miracle Foundation RRP $68, Star Bronzer Intense RRP $79.
A sweep of bronzer along the cheeks, nose, chin and halo of the face warmed up the complexion.

Eyes: Les Ceillades Eye & Brow Palette 02 (Fall Collection 2011) RRP $83, Le Crayon Khôl in Brun RRP $45, Hypnôse Drama Mascara in Excessive Black RRP $52.
For the eyes, he applied dark brown eyeliner to the upper and lower lash line and into the crease and blended away any edges. The liner was topped with two different brown shadows and once again blended to create a smoky look. Shimmer gold shadow was applied to the inner corner to really make the eyes pop. Aaron created “thick and chunky” lashes with several coats of jet-black mascara. Lip gloss was dabbed on eye lids to make the eye makeup look worn, or “deconstructed.”

Lips: Color Fever Gloss in Marvelous Light RRP $48, L’Absolu Nu 202 Beige Tulle RRP $49
