Get The Look: Clinique for Karen Walker, NYFW

On Tuesday 13th September Karen Walker collaborated with Clinique to present her brand's Spring 2012 collection, The American Girl. The collection contained references to the 1970's...with a twist. The pieces also had a 1940's reference with vintage designs and fabric prints. Jumpsuits, bold prints, buttoned blouses and mini skirts were the rage in her newest collection.

Clinique's Global Colour Artist Jenna Menard and the Clinique creative team created a makeup look that truly encapsulated the references inspiring the collection: sophistication, elegance, flirty and playful. The look focused on flawless skin which is a hot look right now (who says you need to look like you are wearing foundation?) Eyelids were subtle and dewy with mascara defining the top lash line. Cheeks were defined with peach cream blush on the apples of the cheeks and lips were defined with a stunning coral lipstick because coral is such a wearable shade that oozes Spring and Summer seasons. Karen agreed to the bright coral tone because she thought reds would be expected.

- NEW Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Treatment launching 2012. Used to prep the skin to create a fresh and luminous complexion.
- Clinique Even Better Makeup SPF 15, RRP $50 & Clinique All About Eyes Concealer, RRP $36. Place foundation and concealer only where needed to even out skin tone. Keeping the base as sheer as possible is extremely important to allow the skin to shine through.
- Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick in Peachy Blush RRP $43. Concentrate the colour on the apples of the cheeks and softly feather outward. Try smiling and placing the colour on the part of the cheek that sticks out the most. The cheek is the only other colour on the face besides the lips so it should complement the lip not compete with it.
- Clinique Up-Lighting Liquid Illuminator in Natural, RRP $48. Apply to the high cheek bone area up through the temple and on the bridge of the nose. Blot lightly on the apples of the cheeks to give a healthy, radiant glow.

- Clinique Lid Smoothie Antioxidant 8-Hour Eye Colour in Bit O’Honey or Cashew Later, RRP $42. Using a warm neutral shade close to the natural skin tone, apply to the inner corner of the lid blending upward toward the brow to give a radiant glow. Finish by applying a small amount along the bottom lash line.
- Clinique Quickliner for Eyes in Smoky Brown, RRP $34. Apply close to the upper lash line to provide soft definition.
- Clinique High Lengths Mascara in Black/Brown, RRP $38. Apply one coat to upper lashes to provide natural definition and to bottom lashes to create an innocent and youthful look.

- Inspired by the makeup for the Karen Walker show, Clinique will introduce a NEW limited edition vibrant, coral lipstick shade that will launch in 2012. I can't wait to try it!
