Review: What would you do if you were given a red lipstick to try? Now keep in mind that this red in not for the faint hearted, it is in fact intended only for the brave. Picture a rich matte and bright fire engine red that is a little drying on the lips and does not blend when lips are rubbed together and voila. you have just met 'Maneater' - a matte lipstick from Illamasqua.
Now I honestly dislike the colour red (in general) and seeing red lipstick on me is surreal - I want to take it off right away. However, I couldn't do that for Liptember so I decided to be brave and try it out. The result: my lips did feel dry from the formula. The colour did not suit my skin tone and features but when matched with a deep pink gloss then the colour is toned down and it contains a gloss to give lips more colour, sheen and additional colour stay. When worn alone, the pigment is strong and the colour will be seen miles away, plus when it is worn full strength I seriously felt like a cheap hooker, my lips were bleeding and it accentuated teeny tiny lines around my lips that I didn't know existed - gah! I would love to try other shades in the range but this time I will stick to a glossy one because this shade was not nourishing and it did not have a glossy sheen which are two 'musts' when investing in a lippie. The packaging is simple yet sexy with its slightly curvy edges and slick lines.

I've been dyiing to try these lippies but maybe not anymore. maybe it was just the colour that caused the bleeding? no lipliner? hmmm. thanks for the honest review!

You are right - I did not wear a lipliner underneath and ofcourse that is a big no-no with red lippie. Still, I did not suit the colour and the matte effect was not flattering for my pale features.
