Get The Look: Pretty in Pink

Are you in need of makeup inspiration? As a makeup artist I do feel the pressure to look good when I meet clients and attend beauty events but I love playing with colour so it is a fun part of my day.

I love to be unique with my makeup and enjoy trying new things and being the vain person I am, sometimes my makeup looks so nice that I fall in love with it and don't want to wash it all off. But I have fixed that problem now: I photograph it to capture my efforts (and you should too!)

Today's look for you is all about pretty pinks with a smokey twist. The best bit is that this look will suit you regardless of your skin tone or features as the colour palette for every look is so wearable. I hope you like the look as much as I did creating it.

LOOK: Pretty in Pink
I created this look last weekend when recording my Clinique It Girl video for their limited edition Pretty in Prints collection. Their collaboration with US designer Milly contains a gorgeous palette with four eyeshadows and a blush as well as a gorgeous gloss called Milly Pink. I was about to take off my makeup when I decided it was too nice to simply wash off and wanted to share the look with you.

Create the look:
  1. Apply a gorgeous rosy pink blush to the cheeks for a pop of colour to give skin a healthy and vibrant look.
  2. Lightly fill in the brows for a fuller look to accentuate the smoky look.
  3. Apply a soft/medium toned pink with a soft shimmer to the eye lid and pat it across the whole eye lid. Be sure to apply a thin line of colour on the inner corner of the eye to brighten the area.
  4. Gently pat a dark brown shadow on the outer edge of eyelid and gently blend it along the outer corner of the eye for a blended smokey look.
  5. With a thin angel/liner brush gently brush the dark brown shadow along the bottom lash line so it lines the eyes.
  6. Team with a dramatic black mascara for emphasis and long lashes.
  7. While I removed my gloss before the photo, add a slick of gloss to give the look a polished, shiny finish.
VOILA!!!

The Clinique Pretty in Prints collection I used to create the look - on counter 26th June 2011 for a limited time!
I would just LOVE to see your attempt so if you do decide to try the Pretty in Pink look then please send a photo in! I hope this has given you makeup inspiration and that you do decide to try this look.

Thanks Grace and Michelle for your thoughts. It is a pretty look that is not too tricky to create. Let me know if you get stuck.

My eyes look realy accentuated when I wear a pink eye shadow, and the pink blush completes my look. Great beauty article

Thanks for reading Sommy. Isn't pink a pretty shade on the cheeks? It really makes your features 'pop'.
