Rosemount Australian Fashion Week: Day Three (Magdalena Velevska)

Magdalena Veleveska S/S 2011 Collection
Hair: Redken
Makeup: directed by Bobbi Brown (Nica Marcello)
To be honest, this is my first encounter with designer fashion brand, Magdalena Velevska which has been named after the designer herself. After learning that Bobbi Brown directed the makeup for the show, I was more than a little intrigued. Magdalena Velevska's Spring/Summer 2011 collection, Continuum, was her second show at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. The print featured in the collection was replicated from Magdalena’s mother’s wedding dress and appears in bold statement colours. Sadly though, the designs are not reflective of my fashion taste; in fact they are a little too boho for my liking.

The Hair: was intricately woven with traditional braids. I love braids, they look so feminine and romantic. The fantastic Redken team of hair stylists teamed up to create various flawless braids that were worked in to create the one in a slick ponytail. Like makeup shows, Magdalena's hair crew mapped out hair charts to ensure the look matched on each model perfectly.
The Makeup: was inspired by ethnic folk with a pop of 60s influence. It is a  modern take on Russian Brides. The blue pop in the eyes was introduced in to the look to compliment Magdalena's featured print. Nica Marcello, International Artist & National Education for Bobbi Brown says “Much like the fashion we take a pretty, feminine and traditional look and fast-forward it with powerful blue lashes, infused with our Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Cobalt.” Thank you to Bobbi Brown for providing images from the show and backstage areas.
