Rosemount Australian Fashion Week: Day Four (Dion Lee)

Dion Lee S/S 2011 Collection
Hair: directed by GHD
Makeup: directed by Napoleon Perdis

Dion Lee built his profile in the industry just years after graduating and has even dressed idolised celebrity fashionista Emma Watson. Uniformity was the theme at the much anticipated Dion Lee show this year. Returning to the Sydney Opera House for a second time, Dion sent models down the runway dressed in beautiful shades of pastels with a contrasting black matte hair look. The look for the new collection: futuristic and a little out of the ordinary which was a nice change with architectural shapes visible in both the fashion and even the models' dark and slicked back hair. While many of the pieces have harsh, straight lines, there were a few softer styles towards the end of the show. Although I could not make the show, GHD and Napoleon Perdis have provided fantastic images to help us imagine the overall feel of the collection.

The Hair: Hair was straightened and slicked back in to a bun with a twist. The look was harsh, dramatic and sleek hair that was painted black which gave a slight Asian reference.
The Makeup: Clean uniformity, a mixture of polished elements. The refraction of light and streamlined luminosity. The liner provided a cats eye flick which again bared an Asian style design.
Thanks to Napoleon Perdis for providing a face chart for the look.

The Nails: As Dion’s Spring/Summer 2011/2012 collection showcases statement bold colour tones, the look was balanced with a natural but noticeable pastel beige nail colour. After shaping the nails into a short, soft square shape, they painted all the models’ nails with this ORLY Pure Porcelain. It’s a really cool look for Spring/Summer. Subtle, yet striking. Simple, yet creative. Plus given the simplicity of the nail look, many woman should be able to emulate this look straight from the catwalk!
