Rosemount Australian Fashion Week: Day Two (Nookie)

Nookie S/S 2011 Collection
Hair: KMS California (Marc Armstrong)
Makeup: directed by MAC (Nicole Thompson)
Designer Nikita Sernack is one lucky lady. While many women dream of launching their own swimwear line, Nikita has made this a reality with her tongue-in-chic label, Nookie.
The Nookie Beach Summer 2011 Collection contained a tribal summer feel with tanned and toned barefoot models airbrushed by MAC and dreadlocked drummers banging on bongos. The collection was a mix of swimwear with bikinis and one-piece swimsuits in beautiful prints and earthy shades. Beachside glamour was present in the loose and sexy dresses of all lengths, sarongs, and short cropped tops that could be worn with swimwear or alone. The Nookie girl is sexy, free unaffected and untouched – she has a natural beauty that
comes from within and is never over the top. This season the Nookie girl is enhanced with a
tribal influence, in feeling, shapes and colours …and the drums beat loudly! Luckily I was backstage for the gorgeous show and was able to speak to Marc and Nicole about the looks.

The Hair: Team KMS California created beachswept hair that looks matted, wavy, and unpolished. The whole point of the look is to make models look as though they have been at the beach and their hair has that salty texture.
The Makeup: The look is luminous and deewy with bronzed tones on the cheeks, lips and eyes. The look is very soft and muted with a luminous veil of Mineral Powder to stop excess shine. Powder is applied to the t-zone as well as under the eyes but cheeks are left dewy. Creme Eye Shadow was applied with a fluffy eye shadow brush to prevent it from sliding or going on too thick on the lids.
Thank you to KMC California and MAC for the images behind the scenes.
