Rosemount Australian Fashion Week: Day Three (Shakuhachi)

Shakuhachi S/S 2011 Collection
Hair: directed by Cloud Nine (Paloma Rose Garcia from Oscar Oscar Salon)
Makeup: directed by Napoleon Perdis
Shakuhachi caught my eye about three months ago and now I am hooked on their stylish statement pieces which ooze sophistication, and a unique sense of sexy. The show featured iconic poolside Hollywood images taken by the late Slim Aaron. Shakuhachi's Spring/Summer 2011 collection, Block Party was inspired by the beautiful and glamorous jetsetters of the 1960's and 1970's with gorgeous bright block colours (orange and blue are two hot hues for the collection) while beautiful lace is used to trim garments. Sadly I was not there for the show but hopefully I will be there for next year's, and from what I have seen of the show, I am 60/40 on the collection. What do I mean? Well the majority of the collection was simply beautiful and very interesting, but there were a few pieces there I really disliked.

The hair: Cloud Nine wanted to build a collection of stories that combined luxury with new on trend styles. This design was created to suit both a sophisticated or more bohemian feel and was combined to make a statement. A modern take on a 60's inspired Bridget Bardot low ponytail. Using a low heat with the Cloud Nine Wide iron, which created a really natural bend through the hair to project a matt, raw and fluffy textured finish. Shakuhachi's designer said, "Hair and makeup we feel is imperative for the show to enhance the look of the collection just like it is in any woman’s everyday life, we were wanting a really clean low pony tail which was over the ear and textured."
The makeup: With Napoleon being LA based, the design was an ode to LA girls, and their unparalleled mix of ambition, strength and attitude. For the street-savvy look, the focus was on a beautiful velvety matte base paired with glossy nude lip sand a vibrant orange eye using Color Disc in 'Orange Zest'. Napoleon says, "The luminosity here is like a beacon, signalling that she’s living the dream. Don’t be afraid to amp it up across the cheekbones."
Thank you to Napoleon Perdis and Cloud Nine for providing images from the show and backstage areas as well as the face chart for the look.
