Redken Reviews

Founded in 1960, Redken Laboratories is a company built from the inspiration of American actress Paula Kent who was extra sensitive to many of the products used by the hairdressers and felt continually frustrated that no one could explain why the products were irritating. Kent and hairdresser, Jheri Redding created and launched Redken and over 50 years later Redken is a leading hair care brand used by hair stylists and salons worldwide.

Redken Extreme Anti-Snap 250ml ($29.00AUD) ★★★★★
Product type: Leave-in treatment designed to smooth hair cuticles, reduces friction from brushing and  fortifies hair breaking or snapping off. Packaged in a blue plastic container with a pump applicator.
I am always a little dubious about using leave in treatments because they do tend to weigh down and grease-coat my finer, light-coloured hair. Not so with this fabulous product! A five cent piece size disperses evenly through long, damp hair; enables the comb to slide through with much less effort (and snapping) and leaves the hair feeling soft, moisturised and frizz free whether it's been blow-dried smooth or let to air dry. In addition to making a cosmetic difference, Anti Snap contains proteins, ceramides and natural lipids to actively repair and fortify each hair shaft. The best part is that my hair has not been greasy or heavy in the slightest – and the soft fruity fragrance lingers throughout the day. I used it on a client with longer, curly and very
damaged hair with great results. However, for thicker or longer hair, more is needed.
(Thank you to my lovely friend and hair stylist Jade Frances for her fabulous review)

Redken Real Control Shampoo 300ml ($28.00AUD) ★★★★★
Product type: hydrating and repairing shampoo that is gentle and suited to dry and sensitised hair. Packaged in a purple plastic bottle with a press lid applicator.

If you have really, really dry hair or if your hair has recently had a rough night on the town complete with loads of hair spray and other styling products then Redken's Real Control Shampoo will rescue your tresses. After getting married in March 11 my hair change dramatically from an oil slick to a dried up knotted ball of split ends that took 30 minutes to brush out daily. This went on for a week until I changed my hair care routine. I started using Real Control Shampoo and Conditioner, both enriched with Shea Butter to help combat the issue and after trimming the split ends and leaving the conditioner in whilst gently combing through the mass of damaged hair, my tresses are now more manageable and pretty much back to their original state which I am thrilled about. The creamy liquid formula has a pleasant floral scent which is not overbearing - in fact I find it calming. It works best on wet hair as it gently froths and spreads with ease. Although the formula contains parabens and other undesirable cosmetic chemicals, Real Control Shampoo has proven that these ingredients work to create fantastic hair nourishment and manageability.

Redken Real Control Conditioner 250ml ($28.00AUD) ★★★★★
Product type: hydrating and repairing conditioner that is gentle and suited to dry and sensitised hair. Packaged in a purple plastic bottle with a press lid applicator.
If you have really, really dry hair or if your hair has recently had a rough night on the town complete with loads of hair spray and other styling products then Redken's Real Control Conditioner will rescue your tresses - and it even acts as a temporary leave-in conditioner when you need a quick fix. After getting married my hair change dramatically from an oil slick to a dried up knotted ball of split ends that took 30 minutes to brush out daily. The creamy formula which is a little thicker than the shampoo has a pleasant floral scent which is not overbearing and it works best on damp towel damp hair which has had excess water wringed out. Although the formula contains parabens and other undesirable cosmetic chemicals, Real Control Shampoo has proven that these ingredients work to create fantastic hair nourishment and manageability.

Redken Extreme Anti Snap is a staple in my hair care routine and I have been using it for over two years now, I just love it and my hair has shown a massive improvement in strength and condition compared to how it was prior to discovering this gem :)
