Estee Lauder for Derek Lam at NYFW 2011

Derek Lam: Sunday February 13th:
Estee Lauder are one of the leading brands in prestige cosmetics all across the world and since their appointment of creative director Tom Pecheux the brand has really started to gain momentum and take back their spotlight in this competitive world of beauty products.
Estee Lauder were extremely proud to direct the makeup creation for Derek Lam's Autumn/Winter 2011 collection and created an absolutely stunning result. This was their third consecutive collaboration with Derek Lam. Lauder was also thrilled that Derek Lam chose to use their global spokespersons Constance Jablonski, Liu Wen and Joan Smalls. Models were dressed in bold textures and patterns mixed with seamlessly flowing and sharp accents. It is so nice to see the same look created on a caucasian eye and an Asian eye because it shows that the style is suitable for all eye shapes which I think is important because so many women will avoid playing with eye makeup in case the design does not suit their eye shape.

The Look: A black shimmer smokey eye (which looks more like an indigo blue) with a touch of metallic silver for added emphasis. The cheeks are softly contoured with Bronze Goddess Soft Duo Bronzer and the lip has been coated in a new nude matte lipstick which is yet to be released.

“This look is very versatile, it almost changes with your movement. The silver metal on the eye reminds me of modern architecture, hard and strong and plays delicately against Derek’s minimal but sophisticated collection. These clothes, you want to keep forever.” described Pecheux, “This look is very confident and lovely, it evokes the fantasy of the Derek Lam woman.”

While I think the look is great on these models it is probably not something that would suit me. I think its the shape of the eye look that doesn't appeal so much to me, which actually doesn't seem to be as straight across in the bottom look as it is in the first one. Maybe with a few adjustments I could make it work, but I do love the colours used so agree it is very versatile anyway :)
