I can't believe how quickly the year passes... it was this time last year that the Sydney International Beauty Expo was on and I intended to go as I have done since 2007 but my fiancee proposed to me and blew THAT out of the water (LOL). Anyhow, I made sure I was available for this year's expo which is held annually ay Sydney Convention Centre in Darling Harbour, and being an industry-only event I invited best friend Aryanny, my trusty makeup assistant who regularly comes along with me on photoshoot and wedding assignments.
Spread out over three halls - Beauty, Skincare and Nails - it is a beauty maven's dream exhibition under the one roof. We attended on Saturday and I had a 9am interview lined up the the amazing Kevin Mendleson, the Global Educator of Jane Iredale. The weather outside was wet and miserable. My fringe went feral before I had even reached the venue and my boots were soaked inside... not fun! While I was interviewing Kevin over a cup of coffee (who is really fun to chat with), Aryanny was dashing toward the Minx Nail Bar in hope of booking us in for a mani because every time we attend a beauty event, we get there around lunch time and we miss out booking in beauty treatments. Luckily we managed to book in our mani's and we managed to get 'Minxed'!
For those of you who may not have heard about Minx Nails then run to your nearest Minx nail technician ASAP because these wonderful sticker nail transfers are the hottest thing in the nail industry right now and I love them. Having natural nails that chip after Day One wearing a nail polish, I was super excited to discover that Minx Nails last between 7-10 days and guess what? Mine lasted 13 days before coming off, so in my opinion, they are certainly good value for money. They come in hundreds of different designs too so you will never get bored with the selection. Therese was my nail technician and we spent our time together chatting over our shared passion for the beauty industry.
Sydney International Beauty Expo is an amazing event for those in the beauty industry because it contains seminars, workshops, fashion and beauty catwalk shows, live demonstrations as well as stands for new and renown beauty brands. Some of my favourite brands that exhibited include Jane Iredale, Dermalogica, Thalgo, Skinstitute, Melli Cosmetics, Beauty Pod, Glitter Gal, La Mav, Bloom Organics, Crown Brushes, Caron, Fake Bake, Orly, OPI, Zoya, Minx Nails, St Tropez, CND,Inika and Ultraceuticals.
I came home with a Melli Cosmetics palette, the new Beauty Pod airbrush sponges, Glitter Gal gloss in French Kiss, La Mav skincare and Designer Makeup Tools Brush Cleaner...although tempted to buy much more, I had to behave because I knew IMATS Sydney was coming up and so I had to watch my money but Aryanny & I had a great day and we hope you enjoy reading about the expo.
