Weleda Reviews

The story of Weleda dates all the way back to the 1920s when Rudolf Steiner and Dr Ita Wegman developed a way to utilise nature’s medicines to stimulate the body to ‘heal itself'. The brand continues nearly a century later maintaining this past wisdom as they endeavour to source the finest ingredients for their respected products from specially selected biodynamic and organic farms. Weleda products are free from synthetic preservatives (including parabens), fragrances, colours, mineral oils and never test products on animals.

Weleda Citrus Creamy Body Wash ★★★★
Price: $17.95
Size: 200ml
About: body wash with a liquid-cream consistency. Packaged in a green plastic tube with flip lid.
Review: Of all Weleda products I have tried their body wash is certainly the best product in the range. Citrus Body Wash is a luxurious and indulgent product that smells like a mix of fresh citrus fruits while having an unexpected creamy texture that I would not normally associate with freshly squeezed citrus fruits. Although a creamy liquid, I was surprised to find that the product foams slightly which helps the formula to spread evenly along the body and give a more thorough clean. Considering my partner and I are both heavy handed with body wash products, this lasted only around two weeks and so although I really did like using Citrus Creamy Body Wash, I wish it came packaged in a larger size with a pump applicator so that we can get more use from the product otherwise it is a waste of packaging and not cost effective also. Knowing it is free from synthetic fragrances, colours, and preservatives makes me like the body wash even more.

Weleda Everon Lip Balm ★★★
Price: $8.95
Size: 4.8g
About: hydrating and softening treatment for lips. Packaged in white plastic twist tube with orange plastic lid.
Review: This is the second product I have used in the Weleda range and although it did not reel me in, I do like it. Everon Lip Balm is a hydrating lip treatment that feels really soft on the lips and it contains a slight glossy finish. What I did not like about Everon Lip Balm is how it dried out my lips and although it feels hydrating, it actually leaves my lips quite dry - to the point that my lip started to bleed for no real reason. Surprised? I was. Especially considering the fact this contains Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil and Beeswax. If you have very dry lips, my advice would be to try a different lip product. For those who just want to keep lips glossy and soft then Everon Lip Balm is ideal for everyday use but just keep in mind that the product does not work miracles.

Weleda Salt Toothpaste ½ star
Price: $9.95
Size: 75ml
About: toothpaste for dental care made with salt.
Review: UGH! This has got to be the worst toothpaste in the history of toothpastes. Salt Toothpaste is simply salt mixed with a paste and as you brush your teeth all you taste is the paste which is so salty it feels as if you're brushing teeth with saltwater and the salty granules get caught deep in the back of your gums and in the crevasses of teeth so you're left with a salty mouth that crunches over salt granules - NOT a good thing to start or end the day with. Half a star and never again.

Weleda Sea Buckthorn Hand Cream ★★
Price: $16.95
Size: 50ml
About: hydrating hand cream packaged in a plastic squeeze tube/
Review: Considering the hype Weleda receives, I was surprised to find that their hand cream disappointed me and did not heal or repair my dry, chapped hands. It contains sesame oil, vegetable oils and sandthorn oil, which is rich in natural vitamins and unsaturated fatty acids. I was hoping Weleda's hand cream would be more of a balm but it is in fact more liquid than balmy or creamy. When attempting to blend into the skin, you will discover the formula sits on the skin, it feels watery and has a sticky residue which is unpleasant. The scent is zesty, clean and I quite liked it but sadly the product has not done the scent or pretty packaging any justice because it has done little to repair my hands which are now flaking like crazy. What a shame.
